Thoughts of a Bruneian Chevening scholar in Edinburgh

One of the two current Brunei Chevening Scholars in the UK, Haji Azrul Melda bin Haji Abu Bakar is now reading a Master Degree (MSc) in Biodiversity and Taxanomy in plants at the University of Edinburgh. He is the recipient of the 2008-2009 Queen Elizabeth II CfBT Chevening scholarship.

Haji Azrul Melda is a teacher at the Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College and have studied in the UK previously for his A-levels and completed his BSc in Biological Sciences with Honours under the Brunei Government scholarship. His current studies in the UK is co-sponsor by the UK's Foreign & Commonwealth Office and the CfBT Education Services (B) Sdn Bhd under the Chevening Scholarship scheme.

His article on the "Thoughts of a Bruneian Scholar in Edinburgh" was published in two parts in the Borneo Bulletin on Wednesday, 20th and Thursday, 21st May 2009.
