We are pleased to announce that the Digital Scrapbook Competition deadline has been extended until Friday 29 of June! With the numerous events taking place in the United Kingdom this year, such as the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen and the run-up to the Olympic Games in London to name a few, we wanted to give Brunei’s talented community a chance to capture some of these events (for instance, as the impact campus life) and to witness the UK’s history-in-the-making through Bruneian eyes.
The rules and guidelines of the competition remain the same. The Digital Scrapbook Competition is open to all Bruneian students – past and present – who have something to say about the UK education experience. Send us a short video clip (maximum time limit of 3 minutes) that captures the essence of your campus experience in the UK, or illustrates your view of British education.
Be yourself – last year’s winners adopted very different approaches, ranging from slickly produced videos to simple voice-overs with still images. Be frank – your message will be heard in the British High Commission and in the VC’s Office of universities across the UK; we want to know what we are doing right and what we could do better to improve the UK university experience. Be imaginative – last year’s competition showed there is a wealth of creative talent in Brunei’s student body, which bodes well for creative industries in Brunei.
To take part, start collecting images (perhaps of activities organised by your local Brunei Student Society or events you have taken part in on campus), sound bites (perhaps of other Bruneians’ feelings about life on campus), weave them together in any way you wish that helps us see British education through your eyes, and upload them onto your online video account (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo). Feel free to add plans you have made to watch the Olympic Games in London this summer, or activities/events that have been/are to be carried out on campus in relation to the Olympics and how/if this has enhanced your British education experience.
Send us the link, together with your personal details. We will view them all; and with help from a panel of judges, including some of Brunei’s best-known social media personalities, select the best.
Submit your entry to brithc@brunet.bn and stand a chance to win an iPhone 4s, an iPad, an iPod Touch, an iPod Nano and an iPod shuffle! The prizes won’t go to the most “professional” production, but rather to the film which most powerfully conveys a personal experience of education in the UK.
The closing date for entries is Friday 29 June 2012. The winners will be announced and prizes awarded at a Gala Event in Bandar in July 2012. Read more about the terms and conditions.
Good luck! And if you need inspiration, have a look at last year’s wonderful entries.
